Percy Bysshe Shelley
Percy Shelley (1792-1822) was an English Romantic poet renowned
for his revolutionary ideas, lyricism, and philosophical depth. He was born on
August 4, 1792, in Horsham, Sussex, England, into a wealthy and aristocratic
family. Shelley’s radical ideas about politics, religion, and social reform
often put him at odds with the conservative norms of the time. Shelley attended
Eton College and later Oxford University, where he gained notoriety for his
rebellious nature. At Oxford, he published a pamphlet titled The Necessity of
Atheism, which led to his expulsion in 1811. His atheistic and nonconformist
