1792

August 4: Percy Bysshe Shelley is born in Horsham, England.

1810

Enrolls at University College, Oxford, but is expelled the following year for publishing the controversial pamphlet *The Necessity of Atheism*.

1813

Publishes his first major work, *Queen Mab: A Philosophical Poem*, a radical exploration of political and social themes.

1815

Begins writing *Alastor; or, The Spirit of Solitude*, a reflective poem exploring themes of isolation and the quest for meaning.

1816

Travels to Lake Geneva and meets Lord Byron, deepening his involvement in the Romantic literary movement.

1817

Publishes *The Revolt of Islam*, a long narrative poem with themes of revolution and hope. Moves to Italy, a turning point for much of his mature poetry.

1820

Writes *Prometheus Unbound*, a lyrical drama and one of his most significant works, celebrating human resilience and freedom. Composes *The Masque of Anarchy*, expressing revolutionary ideals, and shorter works. Publishes *"Ode to the West Wind"*, showcasing his mastery of lyrical poetry and his connection to nature.

1821

Writes *"Adonais"*, an elegy for John Keats, exploring themes of immortality and the artistic legacy.

1822

Dies tragically in a boating accident near Lerici, Italy, at the age of 29.
